Job Description Job Description Salary: $44,000-$66,000 DESCRIPTION: Responsible for providing comprehensive domestic and sexual violence services to primary and secondary victim services including but not limited to coordination and implementation of agency programs serving children, teens and families of domestic/dating violence and sexual assault. Works in conjunction with community agencies, schools, and courts to offer individual, family and group advocacy. This position will also support the helpline, shelter services, community outreach & education and program, support groups, workshop and lead multi-disciplinary team activities as assigned. This includes providing non- resident and crisis intervention services for victims of domestic violence/sexual assault, their families, and the community by tending to shelter, answering hotline calls, assisting walk-ins, and meeting with victims one on one. Must be able to represent the mission, values, and philosophy of Safe Harbor to program participants, employees, and the general public. Model and promote attitudes of non-violence, anti-oppression, inclusiveness, and power-sharing in all facets of position responsibilities, especially when working with community partners. Be an outspoken voice against violence against women and children, teen dating violence, sexual assault, rigid gender roles, and norms of masculinity within the community through conversation, trainings, social media, and one-on-one conversations. PRIMARY DUTIES: Direct Service Adhere to agency policies and work rules including client confidentiality, boundaries and child abuse. Using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to: Provide coverage of 24-Hour helpline, shelter, walk-in and non-residential services. As applicable, complete intake, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, court education, victim accompaniment, information and referrals. With a trauma informed lens, create and maintain a safe and engaging environment for youth of all ages within our shelter and all aspects of outreach services. Model and keep current with best practice related to working with youth, families and trauma; lead in important decision making regarding internal programs and services surrounding children, teens, and families impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault Ensure coordinated care with key community partners, internal team members, and co-advocacy with other victim service organizations. Meet with parents and children to identify and create family support plans, covering safety, supportive parenting, coping and other supportive contact. Act with client in mind and work to meet client's needs and expectations to the extent possible. Coordinates, plans and schedules family centered activities, recreational educational activities, peer and supportive groups and workshops to promote safety, healing and resiliency. Provide individual and systems advocacy, information, and referral to support individuals and families with community-based resources, including, but not limited to assistance with basic needs, housing, education, medical, legal and employment opportunities. Assist clients with developing goals and identifying areas of need. Document case information and complete all necessary forms accurately and timely. Develop and deliver supportive workshops and groups to reduce isolation, increase understanding on domestic and sexual violence, develop life /social skills, varying content to respond to individual and family identified needs. Assist with resolving residential conflicts and maintain a safe environment while using trauma- informed practices. Stewardship Increase awareness of victimization, prevention, and available resources through public speaking and media requests as assigned by supervisor. Participate in community meetings and committees as assigned by supervisor. Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, interns, stakeholders, and community partners. Professional Development Contribute to quality of services by staying informed of best practices, developments, and trends in the area of trauma and victimization as it relates to working with youth, families and trauma, family violence, dating violence, sexual violence, and child maltreatment. Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training and ensure licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job. Contribute to agency effectiveness by performing other duties as assigned. Administration Adhere to agency and program procedures concerning documentation, Critical Incident Reports, and Client Satisfaction Surveys, and participate in the Quality Assurance process. Maintain shelter, office and community spaces - stock supplies as necessary. Maintain a clean, professional appearance of facility by following protocol for accepting and storing donations, cleaning and maintenance. Other Provide on-call support in rotation as scheduled. Support all multi-disciplinary teamwork in the community Identify, train and utilize volunteers to maximize agency capacity. Attend monthly full staff meetings, crisis advocacy meetings and other agency meetings, as requested Represent the agency at community meetings/functions through participation in collaborative meetings and community outreach presentations. Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS College degree preferred in Social Work, Criminal Justice Psychology, or related field and/or equivalent relevant experience. Ability to work sensitively with traumatized populations and to handle crisis effectively. Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault, and/or willingness to learn. Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multi-task. Excellent judgment, an ability to exercise discretion and tact in difficult or confidential situations and an ability to project a positive, professional image to the public. High degree of flexibility and the ability to problem solve and make decisions individually and /or within a team, to achieve organizational objectives. Ability to communicate articulately and interact comfortably and effectively with staff, funders, board, community partners and governmental agencies. Ability to work with both youth and adults with a commitment to and experience in working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles. Education And/or Work Experience Requirements Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferences: Experience working with victims or experience in human services. Language: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English. Bi-Lingual in Spanish or Hmong preferred Physical Requirements Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly lift, twist, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability for close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to perform an activity to determine accuracy and thoroughness of work assignment. Ability to reach, stand, crouch, walk, and finger, grasp, sit, twist, talk, hear, and perform repeated motions. Position may require staff to work outside of the typical work hours as the agency provides services 24/7
