As a purchasing Member, you ll work with other teams across many company functions to develop new Johnsonville products.Johnsonville, LLCSr. Buyer (Meat)Sheboygan Falls, WIPosition Overview:Johnsonville, LLC, a strong, high-growth company, has an opportunity for a result and detailed oriented professional to be responsible for the development and oversight of the meat category. This role will negotiate pricing agreements and the strategic procurement of protein items (pork, beef, turkey, chicken). A future growth opportunity will be to expand into ingredients and/or casing categories. This position will interact cross functionally throughout many functions and levels of the organization. Responsibilities: Lead the strategic sourcing function for all purchased proteins. Coach the Buyer
Meat, who is responsible for the functional execution of the sourcing strategy. Enhance high trust, mutually beneficial relationships with vendors. Proactively collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and service. Collaborate with shareholders to address non-conforming materials, mitigating business impact.
Identify opportunities to expand raw material flexibility, reducing commodity impact to business. Lead sourcing activities for new products using a category management approach. Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with the R&D and Operations teams.
Initiate, negotiate, and implement supply agreements in a professional and ethical manner. Execute category scorecard to gauge performance, with a focus on driving accountability.
Collect and analyze market data resulting in delivery of commodity analysis and forecast. Perform other duties as assigned.Education: Bachelor s Degree preferredExperience: A minimum of five years of pertinent meat processing experience required. Sourcing, sales, live animal harvest or meat further processing experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of meat markets and the economics of meat processing. Previous coaching experience is desired, not required.Skills: Knowledge of meat processing, meat purchasing or meat sales. Strong business, analytical and fiscal acumen; influenced by a high learning agility. Effective, and persuasive communication skills with ability to instill action, confidence, and trust. Ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships with strong interpersonal skills.
Keen awareness of customer and team needs in a highly collaborative environment. Ability to lead major projects and change management efforts. Confident presenter to internal and external teams.
Knowledgeable in ERP and MRP systems, inventory control, and Purchasing law. Commitment to personal growth of team and self.
Self-starter with demonstrated ability to problem solve, multitask, and drive results.
Demonstrated ability to innovate and take risks to achieve results. Proven experience and strong skills in negotiating.
