Staff work closely with identified families and address a wide range of concerns including: safety, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe and stable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical, mental health and substance abuse issues.In addition, the In-Home Safety Service provides services to youth who have been re-unified with their family after being placed in residential treatment, foster care or treatment foster care. The position also provides services to families involved with the child welfare system that are at risk for out-of- home placement due to abuse or neglect issues.This position will be about 15 hours a week and the hours of work will primarily be late afternoon and evening shifts (12pm-8pm) during the week and some weekends. SALARY: $17.00 - $18.00 an hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Interview and evaluate clients to complete intake process.Evaluate youth and families for treatment needs and refer to appropriate resources.Analyze client situations, capabilities and problems to determine services required to control safety threats.Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.Act as an on call resource to evaluate and determine necessary responses in de-escalating crisis situations with youth and families.Conduct face-to-face contact with families, per program standards, to ensure safety and cooperation with safety plan.Serve as part of the Safety Team.Participate and obtain all designated staffing and required training.Complete all required paperwork/documentation, per program standards.Attend all required staffings.Provide timely client updates to other involved employees/agencies.Safely transport clients as needed.

Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related field.Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.One year of experience working with at-risk youth and families preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to work with service-resistant population and advocate for individuals and families.Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedule.Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Department of Human Services.Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.Must maintain client confidentiality.Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to provide culturally, ethnically and gender sensitive services.Ability to follow directions and implement recommendations.Possess creativity in identifying problems and solutions.Ability to self motivate and remain on task.Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the employee guide.Equal Employment Opportunity/M/F/disability/protected veteran status.
