Job Description:
About this Opportunity As a Sewer working at Nemschoff, you'll
piece and top stitch material as indicated on the shop order print
and in the sewing notes or job instructions (JI). You will
successfully meet all production and quality guidelines for piecing
and topstitching and provide a high quality and efficiently sewn
part to be passed on to the Upholstery Department and ultimately
the customer. You'll problem-solve with the assistance of other
team members and seek continuous improvement. All of your
activities will be performed and completed with a high regard for
the safety of others and yourself. You may also learn additional
functions by cross-training in other departments as needed. What
You'll Do You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems,
lead others, and be an owner every day as you... Follow Nemschoff's
recycling procedures for the proper disposal of items. Follow
Nemschoff's standard quality guidelines for all products. Follow
the requirements of good documentation practices when handling
quality records or controlled documents. Inspect your work for
quality, straightness, strong seams, and mistakes, and repair them
as necessary. Work in a team environment. Work overtime as needed
for production needs. Work with a safety-oriented mind set.
Operate, adjust, and perform TPM on all industrial sewing machines
and related equipment as needed. Perform on standard seaming,
single needle topstitching, double needle topstitching, serge, and
shear machines. Perform additional responsibilities as requested to
achieve business objectives. Perform sewing repairs. Properly scan,
read, and understand work instructions, drawings, and work orders.
Recognize flawed or damaged components and properly report problems
to the Flow Coordinator or Supervisors. Sew different fabrics as
needed while conforming to quality and production specifications.
Thread needles, pivot round and square corners, insert zippers, set
gauges, adjust stitch size, alter bobbins, and insert welt cords.
Utilize Lean manufacturing principles as trained or directed. Sound

high school diploma or GED. Previous sewing experience (preferred).
The ability to communicate problems with material or sewing to the
proper Flow Coordinator or Supervisor. The ability to read and
understand safety data sheets when using chemicals. Knowledge of
the standard (non-metric) unit of measurements. The ability to do
basic math and understand measurements up to 1/16. The ability to
read and apply written or oral instructions. The ability to work
with and around other individuals in a team environment. This
involves working independently as well as flexing into various
operations within a team environment. The ability to work in a
regulated environment. The ability to perform all essential job
