Professional Services Group, Inc.Description:
The Youth Support Specialist provides skill building and support to
youth referred to the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS)
Program. This position also supports and assists youth in the
follow through and success of their individualized goals. Services
include individual structured recreational activities that build
social skills, crisis intervention, school support and parent
contact. SALARY: $17 an hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Analyze youth
capabilities, strengths and problems to determine the services
required to meet the unique needs of youth. Implement, evaluate and
review youth goals in collaboration with team members, youth and
their families.Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for
youth in school, the community and during emergency and crisis
situations.Attend youth/family team meetings.Report youth progress
to the CCS case manager at Sheboygan County Department of Human
Services and make appropriate recommendations.Complete proper
documentation per program standards, including note/billing,
monthly reports, and discharge summaries.Organize and facilitate
individual meetings and structured recreational activities that
assist youth in developing pro-social skills and connections.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic
laws. Safely transport clients as needed.Other duties as
assigned.
Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid
driver's license and automobile insurance. Education and
Training:Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology,
Criminal Justice, or other related field.Position must keep current
on information pertaining to youth/family needs through seminars,
trainings, media, text, and research.Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:Ability to read, speak and write clearly in
English.Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in
establishing work schedule.Must meet CCS training requirements and
be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the
Department of Human Services.Must establish and maintain productive
and professional relationships with youth, colleagues, the school
district, and other community agencies.Must maintain client
confidentiality.Ability to prioritize and make appropriate
decisions.Ability to work independently and effectively manage
time.Must possess strong oral and written communication
skills.Ability to provide culturally, ethnically and gender
sensitive services.Ability to follow directions and implement
recommendations.Possess creativity in identifying problems and
solutions.Ability to self motivate and remain on task.Knowledge and
compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the employee
guide and manual.Ability to operate standard office equipment
including telephone, fax, copy machine, shredder and computers with
various software programs.Work Environment:This position operates
in a professional office environment as well as within the
community. This position is required to go into client homes and
any other setting necessary to provide services. This position
routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers with
various software programs, phones, photocopiers, shredders, filing
cabinets and fax machines. Exposure to environmental conditions
such as air conditioning, dust, odors, and outdoor weather
conditions occur. Exposure to household pets may occur.Physical
Requirements:While performing the duties of this position, the
employee is regularly required to: converse and communicate with
others; possess close visual acuity which allows employee to view a
computer monitor, read documents and safely operate a motor
vehicle; remain in a stationary position and move about within the
office, client homes and the community; and operate a computer and
other office technology. This position occasionally is required to
move objects and children weighing up to 20 pounds.Travel:Travel is
primarily local during the business day.Client Caseload and Hours
of Work:This position will maintain a caseload determined by
intensity of services. The hours of work for this position are
varied, but typically are Monday through Friday during the business
hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. However, the position may require
several evenings per week and occasional weekends to accommodate
the needs of program clients, primarily during the school year.
Position must be available via cell phone 24/7, unless other
coverage arrangements have been made.Attendance:This position
requires regular and reliable punctuality and
