Description:
This position receives family related information and conducts searches to locate potential relative placements for children requiring out-of-home placements. It also ensures timely and well-coordinated placements for children requiring higher levels of care. This position engages family with children in out-of-home care even when the relative is not available for placement. This position will organize, prioritize, and facilitate team meetings around child/youth/family to support placement with family. Additionally, this position will collaborate with Sheboygan County staff to secure successful family placement.SALARY: $20 an hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Conduct background searches utilizing several identified web-based search sites to identify family membersCollaborate with Sheboygan County staff to ensure that all relevant information relating to the search for relatives is shared and exploredSeek out family in order to: -Build on existing relationships -Promote stability for children and youth -Enable continuity of relationships between family / community members and the child/youth -Maintain the integrity of children and youth's connections -Engage the extended family and / or community in permanency planning earlier in the process -Assists child protection and juvenile justice social workers; foster parent, families and informal supports to develop life long connections for children, youth and families. -Explore opportunities for life-long connections for older youth in need of supportCoordinates and facilitates family meetingsEngages and involves family members in the process and mediates issues as they arise.Provides support to the child's family teamAccurately update and maintain all relevant databases in a timely manner Other Duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.Education and Training:Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field required. Experience:One year of experience in Child Welfare preferred.eWiSACWIS experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Computer skills required, including knowledge of Excel, Access and the use of internet search sites. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedule.Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Sheboygan County and Placement Resources.Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues and all other associated community agencies. Must maintain client confidentiality.Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to provide culturally, ethnically and gender sensitive services.Ability to follow directions and implement recommendations.Possess creativity in identifying problems and solutions.Ability to self-motivate and remain on task.Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the personnel policy and procedure manual.Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws.
