Responsible for performing routine, basic respiratory therapy
procedures such as oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy,
and incentive spirometry to patients under the supervision of a
licensed Respiratory Therapist.
Under supervision, may perform routine and basic level
respiratory therapy procedures including oxygen therapy, pulse
oximetry, aerosol therapy and incentive spirometry.
May be responsible for order entry into the computerized
charting system and informing the Respiratory Therapist in the
corresponding area of any new orders.
Organizes and maintains supply of respiratory therapy equipment
and supplies in the department and nursing units. Assembles and
disassembles various respiratory equipment; sends appropriate
equipment to Central Processing for sterilization. Orders necessary
supplies from storeroom.
Collects equipment from all the areas of the hospital and cleans
and reassembles equipment according to proper procedure observing
standard precautions. Sends appropriate equipment to Central
Processing for sterilization.
Attends annual hospital competencies. Learns new
equipment/supplies, procedures, and processes as needed to perform
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties,
which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper
technique (if applicable).
Licenses & Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare
Providers certification issued by the American Heart
Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless
department leader has determined it is not required.
Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in
