Negotiable After successful completion of the probationary period,
employee will receive off probation wage increase. Summary:
Accomplish the Public Transit System objectives by ensuring the
safe and timely transportation of the Oneida Community and support
the Transit System’s drivers and dispatchers. Ensure public
transportation programs throughout the geographical area of the
reservation are maintained in accordance with established laws,
regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities: * Operate
Transit System vehicle to transport passengers on a regular route
established by the Manager and for special events as scheduled *
Utilize care when operating and maintaining the vehicle * Adhere to
all state and federal rules, regulations, and traffic laws *
Transport passengers based on requested service calls relayed
through the dispatcher * Collect fares for each one-way trip *
Maintain accurate daily drivers log/trip sheets and submit to
supervisor * Complete daily safety inspection of vehicle prior to
first departure to ensure vehicle is equipped with necessary safety
equipment; test the vehicles operating systems; reports problem to
supervisor * Render assistance to passengers while loading and
unloading if needed * Comply with reasonable passenger requests for
special services * Attend weekly staff meetings to plan schedules,
events, and trips, and report on progress, incidents, and other
relevant items * Handle emergency situations as they arise and
immediately notify proper Transit management authority * Follow
Post Accident Testing as it pertains to Tribal, state, and federal
accidents and incidents * Maintain control of situations until
proper Transit management is notified and arrives * Regulate
heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort *
Report delays for accidents, poor road conditions, passenger and
mechanical emergencies as required * Monitor gas, oil, and water
prior to departures and during driving as appropriate * Inspect bus
for cleanliness, safety, and appearance and takes required actions
to meet prescribed standards * Process passenger complaints and
initiates corrective actions designed to improve customer relations
and services * Assist dispatcher as requested * Above duties and
responsibilities are not all inclusive but rather a general
representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with
this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to
change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the
supervisor. Skills: Essential: * Exercise independent judgement and
work as a team player with DTS or cross fucntional BU's. * Obtain
additional education and training * Inform and communicate verbally
and in writing in diverse and challenging situations with the
ability to process information effectively, identify and define
problems and make objective decisions * Knowledge of the Oneida
community, history, and culture and government * Ability to
establish and maintain good working relationships with the
individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds * Maintain
strict departmental security, confidentiality, and quality to meet
professional standards of the department * Knowledge of the
geographical area of the Oneida Nation Reservation and surrounding
communities * Maintaining accurate records * Perform minor repairs
on a passenger bus * Ability to set and meet priorities, meet
strict deadlines and the ability to successfully cope with
challenging situations and conditions * Ability to analyze
situations and adopt appropriate courses of action * Must present a
professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of the
Oneida Nation in dealing with the general public Education
Requirement - Or A Closely Related Field: Education with Equivalent
Qualifications: Essential: * General Ed, High School Equivalency
Diploma, HS Diploma * Applicants age 50 and older are exempt from
this requirement Credentials: Essential: * Tribal Vehicle Driver *
CDL Class A * CDL Class B * CDL Class C * Commerical Drivers
License Nonessential: * Driver Safety Training * CDL CLASS P *
Child Abuse Reporting Policy (CARP), within ninety (90) days of
employment. Working conditions: Essential: * Must be twenty five
(25) years of age * Business setting * Moderate noise level *
Exposure to various fumes * Exposure to airborne particles *
Extreme weather conditions * Stand frequently * Sit frequently *
Reach above shoulder level frequently * Push/pull frequently * Lift
11-24 pounds continuously * Move 11-24 pounds occasionally * Work
is performed outdoors Experience: Nonessential: * One (1) year work
experience griving a shuttle bus or similar passenger vehicle.

Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty
