Job Description Job Description Vista Medical Center is
currently seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join
our Imaging Services team. This position plays a critical role in
patient care by conducting diagnostic procedures using
radiopharmaceuticals and specialized imaging equipment. As part of
Vista Health System, you'll work under the supervision of a
physician and directly interact with patients of all ages in a
supportive, collaborative environment. Job Summary: The Nuclear
Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing imaging
examinations using radiopharmaceuticals to assist in the diagnosis
and treatment of diseases. Responsibilities include preparing and
administering isotopes, operating imaging equipment, monitoring
isotope concentration in patients, maintaining patient records, and
ensuring safety protocols are followed. Key Responsibilities:
Administer radiopharmaceuticals and operate nuclear medicine
cameras and scanners to create diagnostic images. Monitor and
evaluate patient response to radiopharmaceuticals. Maintain
accurate records of patient treatments, imaging studies, equipment
use, and inventory of radioactive materials. Calibrate and maintain
nuclear medicine equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory
guidelines. Coordinate patient schedules with other departments and
ensure thorough communication with physicians and team members.
Comply with safety and infection control standards, including ALARA
principles and all regulatory agency requirements. Maintain a
clean, organized, and fully stocked work environment. Demonstrate
Vista's Standards of Behavior and use the AIDET method in patient
communication. Participate in continuing education and departmental
meetings as needed. Provide on-call and call-in coverage as
required, including at other Vista Health System locations.
Qualifications: Education: Successful completion of an AMA-approved
program in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Licensure/Certifications:
Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the State of Illinois
(IEMA). Certified or certification-eligible with ARRT (N) and/or
NMTCB. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Experience:
No prior experience required; new graduates welcome. Skills: Strong
attention to detail and adherence to safety standards. Effective
communication and collaboration with both patients and healthcare
team. Ability to manage and document radioactive materials in
compliance with regulatory standards. Physical Requirements: This
position involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs,
and occasional bending, squatting, and pushing. Must be able to see
with corrective eyewear and hear with or without assistance. Work
Environment: Exposure to infectious and radioactive materials. May
be required to wear protective equipment. Must be able to respond
to emergency situations and work irregular hours as needed. Why
