Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years as an RN or LPN License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills Wound care skills General medical/surgical skill set Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse on a medical surgical unit. The facility is a Level III Trauma Center with 99 beds total. The patient types include basic medical/surgical cases. Common conditions include CHF, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, UTIs, and general surgeries. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for nights based on acuity. There is a team nursing approach with LPNs and tech support. Team members include a charge nurse, receptionist during the day, and a centralized telemetry monitoring team. There is 24/7 hospitalist and respiratory team support. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy services are available during the day only. An IV certified team is available to assist with difficult sticks. Charting is done using a preferred system. FLOATING is required for RNs to ICU/ED or other medical surgical areas when necessary. Weekend rotation is every other week. Holiday expectations include working every other holiday. Scrubs are required in any color, excluding hoodies. Time off requests must be approved by management. On-call duties may apply for RNs if called off for low census.
