Job Description iDEAL Hire is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Wausau, Wisconsin. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 06/30/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel General Job Duties - Provide nursing care for step-down critical care patients in a 40-bed telemetry unit. - Primary patient population includes medical cardiology, heart and lung surgery, and vascular surgery. - Perform patient assessments, medication administration, basic EKG interpretation, dressing changes, and other related tasks. Types of Procedures Required - Patient assessments - Medication administration - Basic EKG interpretation - Dressing changes - Management of chest tubes - Wound vac care - Temporary pacemaker management with epicardial wires - Epidural and PCA management Equipment Utilized - Electronic charting (EPIC system) - Pyxis medication system - Bar code scanning for medication administration - IV Alaris pumps - Temporary pacemakers with epicardial wires - Chest tubes - Wound vacs Required Skills and Minimum Years of Experience - Minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience Specific Licensures and Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Shift or Schedule Requirements - Varied shifts (days, evenings, nights) - Every other weekend required - No call required - Staff will not work alone Floating to Other Units/Departments - May float to critical care cluster units: Medical-Surgical ICU (MSICU), Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care (MSIMC), Cardiac ICU (CICU) - Occasional floating to medical-surgical areas: Medical Acute Care (MAP), Orthopedic Care Unit (OCU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Post-Surgical Care Unit (PSCU) Bed Size/Number of Rooms - 40 beds Nurse-to-Patient Ratio - Days: 1:3-4 - Evenings: 1:4 - Nights: 1:5 Dress Code - Scrubs Unit/Department-Specific Training and Orientation - Contract staff receive: - One 12-hour day orientation in the department - Learning lab - Mini-hospital orientation - EPIC training About iDEAL Hire iDeal Travel Staffing is dedicated to working with the best of the best in travel healthcare.
