Job Description:

API1223 is a busy outpatient retail pharmacy located just inside the North entrance of the Sheboygan Clinic. We are one of the top 3 busiest pharmacies within the Advocate Aurora system and employ 12 team members.This position has various/rotating shift assignments. Our pharmacy hours are 8a-8p Monday through Friday and 8a-12p Saturday/Sunday. Our opening shift begins at 730a to prepare the store to open to the public. Our closing shift stays until 830p to tidy up for the following day. Most shifts have a 6-630p end time and vary in length from 4-5 (weekends) to 9-10 hours. There is a consistent weekend rotation, which requires staffing every 3rd weekend. Days off during the week are granted to account for working weekends, which allows our team members ease in scheduling personal/medical appointments, etc. Flexibility is expected and appreciated, as needed, due to unforeseen circumstances.It's certainly a busy environment, but our team members enjoy it. We have a wide array of experience; from 2 to 35 years on both our technician/support staff and pharmacist teams. There are numerous opportunities for interdepartmental interactions within the largest outpatient clinic in Sheboygan County; our building houses (almost) every traditional medical specialty. We also act as the outpatient pharmacy for our hospital as the current building lacks one. Our team fill and coordinate discharge prescriptions for patients to receive bedside or curbside for their discharge. We know that patients who receive their meds prior to leaving the hospital are more likely to avoid readmission and understand their medications better when they arrive home. This position also offers room for professional growththe expectations are high; it's not a typical outpatient technician position. Our technicians are granted significant autonomy compared to customary outpatient pharmacy technicians and assignments which encourage engagement, self-development, and team member job satisfaction. Advocate Aurora Health has an established technician career ladder that allows for personal growth and development; with many technicians starting their careers on our team and promoting upward from there. Experience is preferred, however willing to train the right applicant. You may also be responsible for the following Assists the pharmacist(s) by performing a variety of distribution, technical and clerical duties during the onboarding and training period.Assists in servicing pharmacy customers as directed including: obtaining and recording initial demographic and other required information, data entry of required information into the pharmacy system for record keeping, insurance verification and label generation purposes, and cashiering.Under the supervision of the pharmacist, prepares appropriate medication. This includes selecting product, counting or reconstituting and packaging of product.Provides support tasks specific to Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, including identifying patients eligible for services, flagging prescriptions for potential intervention by the pharmacist, printing information for pharmacist interventions, and placing calls to patients for pharmacist consultation.Learns to perform limited insurance and third party billing functions including: data entry of customer demographics and third-party information, obtaining prior authorizations from appropriate third-party carriers, maintaining files of prior authorization, investigating and correcting errors in submission to third parties and handling private insurance, workers compensation, and third-party insurance coverage and prescription-related issues.Performs any of the following clerical duties to ensure efficient operations depending upon the needs of the pharmacy: inventory control including ordering and stocking, preparing medications for delivery or mailing, prescription, bank and post office deliveries, prescription billing for physicians, general housekeeping and display set up.Scheduled Hours This position has various/rotating shift assignments.
