Job Description:
Manufacturing/continuous improvement engineer that will focus on
implementing improvements to the various value streams using Lean
Manufacturing Methodologies and Tools. The intent of this position
is to embed the continuous improvement mindset into everyday
activities before taking on full engineering responsibilities at
any of the Vollrath manufacturing locations. Act as the change
agent, coaching, mentoring, guiding and training employees in Lean
Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement, embedding within the
culture throughout the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Reduce waste and drive best practices across the organization
using Lean/6Sigma Methodologies (i.e., Lean manufacturing, Standard
Work, 6S, Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC Problem Solving, Kaizen, A3
methodology, Six Sigma, Level Scheduling and Pull Principles,
etc.).
- Prep for and facilitate cross-functional Kaizen and 6S
events.
- Discover and document current state (process flows, process
participants, business metrics, tools and systems used), injecting
data-driven thinking into the analysis.
- Analyze data & identify improvement opportunities recommending
solutions based on root cause
- Identifies areas in the business where profit improvement can
be achieved. Develop programs and approaches that will achieve
annual improvement and key performance indicator goals supporting
our llong-termstrategy Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Lean Tools and Methodologies from past
experiences and or classes
- Previous experience in working with Lean Tools &
Methodologies
- Capstone project completion centered on Lean Manufacturing type
improvements
- Four-year bachelor's degree in a technical field required,
preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial
Engineering.
- Candidates without a 4-year technical degree considered if they
possess the skills and preferred experience requirements.
- A passion for leading change and making improvements
- Strong team building and motivation skills. Ability to work
both independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Self-starter with a strong "sense of urgency". Strong aptitude
for problem solving and detail.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically and take a
proactive and aggressive goal-setting approach to assist in
developing a lean culture.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and
group situations to other employees in the organization as well as
communicate effectively on the phone.
- Applicants must be reliable, dynamic, sociable and enthusiastic

- Applicant must be able to interact with all levels of the
