Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Project Manager About the
Company S.J. Janis is a long-tenured, family-owned residential
remodeling firm serving the Greater Milwaukee market. Founded in
1951, the team delivers high end, design-build remodeling - from
whole-home transformations and complex renovations to additions -
with a reputation built on craftsmanship, communication, and trust.
The company operates with an in-house, end-to-end model
(consultation through design through build), supported by a modern,
client-facing office in Elm Grove and a mix of employed team
members plus trusted trade partners. S.J. Janis is EOS-aligned and
runs with a leadership team that values clear accountability and
strong operating rhythms. Role Summary The Project Manager is
accountable for coordinating, managing, and hands-on execution of
multiple concurrent high-end remodeling projects averaging $250,000
each. This leader ensures projects are delivered on-time,
on-budget, and of exceptional quality while providing a high-touch
client experience that exceeds expectations through daily
communication, proactive problem-solving, and meticulous attention
to detail. This role is on-site in Elm Grove with regular travel to
active job sites, leveraging BuilderTrend as the primary operating
platform. The Project Manager reports to the Production Manager and
is expected to be dependable, organized, and relationship focused,
able to manage client expectations, coordinate trade partners, and
execute hands-on carpentry work when needed to maintain project
momentum and quality standards. The Mission S.J. Janis exists to
deliver high-end remodeling experiences that clients trust from the
first conversation through the final walkthrough. The mission is
simple: do what we say we will do - build with craftsmanship,
communicate clearly, and protect the homeowner relationship at
every step. Every project is an opportunity to earn a client for
life through disciplined planning, strong field leadership, and
pride in the finished product. Why Janis? S.J. Janis offers a rare
combination of stability, quality, and impact in residential
remodeling. Team members join a family-owned company with decades
of trust in the Milwaukee market, where the work is consistently
high-end and technically interesting, and where craftsmanship and
clear communication are non-negotiable. The environment is
collaborative across Sales, Design, and Production, supported by
strong standards and systems that enable teams to run projects
professionally. Role Metrics and Goals 90-Day Performance
Objectives: Assessment & Integration • Develop trust with the team
by demonstrating proven capabilities in managing at least one
project through The Janis Way, learning S.J. Janis workflows
end-to-end, including handoffs from Sales and Design, permitting,
selections, and long-lead ordering. • Establish a consistent
operating cadence with daily BuilderTrend log-ins, weekly
coordination with Production Manager, and clear communication
rhythms with clients, trade partners, and internal teams. • Get
full visibility into assigned projects (status, schedule health,
budget tracking, change orders, and client expectations) while
reinforcing BuilderTrend hygiene so schedules, photos, notes, and
documentation are consistently updated and reliable. • Demonstrate
hands-on carpentry skills in rough and finish work to support field
execution, maintain project momentum, and build credibility with
trade partners and team members. 180-Day Performance Objectives:
Leadership & Execution • Successfully manage three projects
simultaneously, coordinating trades, materials, schedules, and
client communication while maintaining on-time, on-budget delivery
and high client satisfaction. • Improve schedule reliability by
maintaining 2-4 week look-aheads, confirming trade and material
readiness before work is released, and proactively managing
dependencies to prevent delays. • Strengthen job-cost control
through routine budget reviews, accurate change order processing,
and early variance identification with clear corrective actions
communicated to Production Manager. • Build strong relationships
with trade partners and suppliers to improve responsiveness,
quality, and consistency across jobs, while maintaining
professional standards and accountability. 365-Day Performance
Objectives: Scale & Strategic Impact • Manage more than three
projects simultaneously and successfully, running production
predictably with on-track schedules, protected margins, and
consistently strong client satisfaction that generates referrals
and repeat business. • Serve as a dependable, high-ownership
Project Manager who reduces execution variability through
disciplined preconstruction planning, thorough documentation, and
proactive issue resolution before problems escalate. • Demonstrate
strong operating rhythms that support team accountability and
continuous improvement (reliable BuilderTrend updates, proactive
client communication, and predictable project delivery that upholds
S.J. Janis standards). • Contribute to S.J. Janis's long-term
growth by operating as a trusted leader who earns clients for life,
mentors less experienced team members, and embodies the company's
values of craftsmanship, communication, and dependability. Titus
